New Visions

Secretary of the 2nd Iran Oil Refining Forum, Mohsen Alagheband Hosseini says the Iranian oil refining industry is undergoing major evolutions with new visions and new concepts.

Addressing the opening session of the 2nd Iran Oil Refining Forum (11-12 October), he added that such international events with the aim of creating a friendly stand for refining professionals, experts and scientists to exchange ideas and information on technical, economic, social and scientific issues of the refining industry would certainly provide prosperity, success, and peace for the mankind and the human society.

Alagheband Hosseini said 1172 persons from 92 Iranian and 55 foreign companies participated in different sections of IOR-II. He added that five Iranian companies and eight foreign companies helped the National Iranian Oil Refining and Distribution Company (NIORDC) in sponsoring the forum.

He said a total of 61 papers were received by the forum of which 36 were extracted from local sources and 25 extracted from foreign sources, adding that 36 papers were presented during the forum and all these papers will be gathered in the forum book of papers. He put the number of countries present at the event at 25.

Alagheband Hosseini hoped that the occasion would be a good initiation in creating further opportunities for interaction between NIORDC and other national and international organizations.

He noted that comments of major oil companies, technology holders and licensors will be highly influential on decision makings of oil industry both in the current situation and in the future project development.

“I can proudly announce that the whole subjects addressed in the 1st Iran Oil Refining Forum, the 6th World Refining and Fuel Conference and the 3rd Asia Refining Conference about upgrading, optimization and capacity expansion projects for the current refineries, and also development plans to construct six new grass root refineries, are now actively in progress according to the schedule and some of them are successfully under operation.”

IOR-II aimed to make an evolution in Iran’s oil refining industries which covers both existing refineries as well as new grassroots refineries. Also residue upgrading technology and extra heavy crude oil processing were major topics discussed at the forum.
