An Award-Winning Exporter

The textile industry has been able to create the highest number of job opportunities in Iran. Payman Moquette Company of Borujen has been awarded a plaque of honor by President Mohammad Khatami after being selected as the “exemplary exporter” from among 40 textile companies in 2000.
The company has proven that the Iranian textile industries can survive the ever-changing global market. Payman Moquette’s success has been a result of its belief that the key to survival is exporting the products by improving the quality of them, as the company’s managing director Hadi Sarrafian puts it.
Until two years ago, the company’s activities were limited to the domestic market, but since then, the company has been determined to work globally and has achieved a notable progress in this regard. This accomplishment is a fruit of efforts by the company’s managing director, executives, engineers and other staff members.

From Yemen to Germany

Payman Moquette has exported $10 million worth of goods in the past couple of years. In 1999 only, a value of $7 million of products has been exported.
Payman Moquette has been able to export its products to more than 15 countries including Kazakhstan, Kyrgyzstan, Turkmenistan as well as African and Arab countries. This is while the new export markets include Germany, Austria and Yemen.

Exports to Central Asia and the U.A.E. (1999):

Felt fitted carpet 4,067,712 sq.m.
Tufting fitted carpet 375,533 sq.m.
Machine made carpet 108,170 sq.m.
BCF yarn 18,380 kg.

Benefiting from International Trade

The company has two offices in Dubai and Qatar and five offices in Central Asian nations. It has also set up a moquette producing factory in Sazbishak Free Trade Zone.
Payman Moquette products have now received wide recognition in Central Asia, while the customers are quite satisfied with the product quality.
Through setting up small assembling and complementary units in Iranian Free Trade Zones, Payman Moquette has been able to enjoy tax holidays and benefit from the advantages of international trade.

Progress Despite Difficulties

Payman Moquette has taken major strides to export its products in line with the provisions of the Third Economic Development Plan (2000-2005). This has been in spite of the fact that the price of “granule” – the main raw material of the company – has increased on the market because of the surge in the oil prices. This has led to a growth in final prices of commodities even beyond the export prices. In less than 3 years, the price of granule has increased by 15%, while the 30% quota of granule – which has been planned for promotion of exports – has not been delivered to the company.
In spite of all these difficulties, Payman Moquette Company is still of the belief that the growth of the country’s economy is tied with growth of exports. Increasing exports means an increase in the GDP and this will lead to creation of more job opportunities, raise of per capita income and social welfare. Higher exports means security for investments, economic growth and independence and finally, national power.
