We are focused on industrial sectors where we can better express our distinctive capabilities. In the polyolefin business we have a solid background and unrivalled experience being the number one contractors in the world with as many as 75 polypropylene plants implemented worldwide and a good ranking in polyethylene where we can offer excellent technologies of primary industries such as Basell, Borealis, Mitsui, Exxon, etc.
At present, we have five polypropylene plants in various implementation stages (two of them in Iran), a large EPC polyethylene project in Abu Dhabi and one in China.
In the gas sector, we have acquired in the first quarter of 2000 the majority control of Paris-based engineering company Sofregaz, specialized in the entire chain of the gas industry, with a clear intention to diversify our activity in a growing sector that is complementary to our traditional business.
Moreover, we are interested to enlarge and strengthen our presence in the fertilizers, chemicals and petrochemical intermediates such as PTA and EO/EG.

Petrochemicals and Gas is our core business and Iran offers great opportunities to our Group. Recently, we have designed and constructed a polypropylene plant and an EO/EG plant at Arak, reconstructed the Bandar Imam Complex, implemented a pharmaceutical plant at Isfahan and licensed the PTA technology to PIDMCO for an overall amount in excess of US$ 500 million.
At present, we are working on a new 160,000 t/y polypropylene project at Bandar Imam for Navizar Chemie and last September we have been awarded by Marun Petrochemical two new projects for a 300,000 t/y polypropylene plant and 400,000 t/y monoethylene glycol plant at Bandar Imam. Our French subsidiary Sofregaz is involved in the construction of two compression stations for NIGC near Isfahan.
We have a good number of new projects in the 10th Olefin Complex at Bandar Assaluyeh in bidding phase which we are confident to acquire in first months of next year as well as other interesting projects in the gas field.
