Aiming to achieve industrial self-sufficiency, Petrochemical Industries Erection and Construction Co. (ECC) was established employing Iranian experts to implement industrial projects, compete in international tenders and transfer the erection and construction technology.
After the imposed war, ECC started reconstructing and renovating oil, gas and petrochemical industries and implemented 40 industrial projects on international standards through the First and Second Development Plans. These projects used to be fully implemented by foreign contractors before the Islamic Revolution.
Recruiting experienced engineers, seasoned technicians and various machinery, ECC has set up workshops in a few spots across the country and is prepared to take over and implement projects based on global standards.
Having completed construction and mechanical installation of Kharg Methanol Project (with a production capacity of 2000 tons per day) as well as MTBE Project of Bandar Imam Petrochemical Plant, ECC is now busy with construction and installation of the PTA Project in Bandar Imam Special Economic Zone.
There have been times when ECC has successfully operated in five simultaneous projects. One of the most brilliant accomplishments of ECC has been completion of the Aromatic Project of Bandar Imam Petrochemical Plant in 12 months at one-third of the price demanded by foreign companies.
ECC is capable of implementing industrial projects in all specialized areas of oil, gas and petrochemical industries, taking full responsibility from the beginning of design and engineering to the final stages of installation and commissioning on a turnkey basis.
At the moment, ECC is one of the largest companies of its kind in the Middle East, employing over 3500 expert personnel and having run operations exceeding 30 million man/hour in volume. By successfully implementing the projects of the second phase of Bandar Imam Petrochemical Complex, ECC has broken the record of reconstruction and renovation of projects in the Middle East.

Petrochemical Industries Design and Engineering Co. (PIDEC) started its main activities in 1985 for the design and engineering of oil, gas and petrochemical projects among other industrial plants. PIDEC has been established to offer all engineering consultations from feasibility studies to purchase of equipment, installation and commissioning of projects.
From the beginning of its establishment, PIDEC has gathered the latest technical and engineering data, international standards in design and engineering, advanced hardware and software to be used by its technical staff to expedite offering of high-quality services based on international standards.
An honor of PIDEC is success in being the country’s first design and engineering company to receive ISO 9001 certificate for design, engineering, project management and procurement of oil, gas and petrochemical industries.
Experienced in engineering, design and commissioning operations in oil, gas and petrochemical industries, PIDEC management and senior engineers form a knowledgeable team to meet the needs of industries.
PIDEC has based its operations on the application of highly advanced engineering software namely PDMS (CADCENTRE) and IPDMS (DIMENSION III). These software are applied in design and engineering of petrochemical plants, oil refineries, offshore establishments, gas installations, pipelines and power plants. A major advantage of these systems is their capability in estimating the possibility of physical interference which enables the engineers to avoid unnecessary expenses and delays caused by mistakes. To make the best of these software, PIDEC has also been equipped with efficient and sophisticated hardware such as VAX and COMPAQ.
In 1992, total shares of PIDEC were purchased by Erection & Construction Co. (ECC) which marked a close cooperation between the two companies. Diversity of specialties in both companies and availability of various facilities enabled the new company to act as a head contractor in completing the projects on a turnkey basis both locally and internationally.
Some of the projects completed or under implementation by PIDEC are: Methanol Project of Shiraz Petrochemical Plant, Ahwaz Carbon Black Project, Isfahan Aromatic Project, Khorassan Petrochemical Project, Kharg Pipeline Project, civil and structural engineering of a unit in Abadan Petrochemical Plant, NF Project of Bandar Imam Petrochemical Plant, Phase II of Arak Petrochemical Plant, etc.
