The history of the Iranian automotive industry originates in 1969 when locally assembled cars were brought on the market and facilities for the manufacture of some parts were put up. It was only during the last decade, however, that the industry developed extensive facilities for the production of parts and components.

Consolidating and expanding domestic production which will bring savings in the country’s foreign exchange expenditures for vehicle production is regarded as a worthy national objective. Export of parts, as well as engineering services to other countries and access to world markets are our main concerns. However, such an accomplishment necessitates a market research with the objective of developing exports, especially to European and Arab countries; negotiation and conclusion of agreements with overseas companies.

Acquiring the latest technology, creating a system of collective management based on expert views, making optimal use of occasions to turn threats into opportunities, considering the parts manufacturers as members of one single large family, creating an atmosphere conducive to healthy competition, and finally, bringing about conditions in which innovative powers flourish are some other measures that must be adopted to materialize the goals of Iranian automotive industry.
