Jondishapour is the name of a university that was founded 1500 years ago in ancient Persia. Today, it is also the name of an ambitious industrial services company that has achieved credit and fame due to its exemplary performance.
Iran International recently talked to Jondishapour managing director Khosrow Roodani. A gas engineer by education, Roodani possesses 18 years of working experience enriched with several training courses on petroleum industry. He is a native of Abadan, Khouzestan Province, and has served as Jondishapour managing director since the very first day.
Roodani owes his achievements to family roots in oil industry, “An interest in oil industry runs in our family. My grandfather was an oil industry worker. My father was an Abadan Technical School graduate who later became a high-ranking oil industry employee. Also, my uncles held top posts at the industry. They worked for local and international giants for years and could play an instrumental role in projects.” Excerpts:

Early Reputation: A host of industry experts founded Jondishapour Company in 1992 to meet ever-increasing post-war reconstruction needs in Iran’s oil industry. Completion of several oil, gas and petrochemical projects won the company credit and prominence in a short period of time.
The fact that Jondishapour was a 100% private company deprived it of advantages that semi-governmental firms enjoyed. Yet, this could not stop the company from making its presence felt. The company gained momentum by the day and became stronger and stronger thanks to tireless efforts of its staff. The management believes in quality performance that meets international standards.

Jondishapour Company seeks to contribute to national reconstruction efforts and win a more active role on global stage.

Activities: The company is credited with completing a number of high-profile projects; among them: piping the LD, PP, and OL units of Bandar Imam Petrochemical Complex that won the company accolade, a few pipeline and telecommunication projects for the National Iranian Oil Company, several gas supply projects in Arsanjan, Saadat Shahr, Dasht-e Morghab and Darab, and building projects in Shiraz. Jondishapour was the first company to make widespread use of polyethylene pipes in gas supply projects in Fars Province.

An Inspiring Name: The fact that Persia housed the world’s first university indicates how much importance ancient Iranians attached to science and scientific progress. Unfortunately, few Iranians pay enough attention to historical and cultural legacies of the past and do not bother to revive them. Experience of countries, which care more about this, shows they are better off. Carrying the name Jondishapour means taking on more responsibility. Our company has taken steps to acquire high technology and give education a boost. A number of articles by our experts have appeared in oil and petrochemical industry bulletins. The company has also prepared scientific pamphlets for Abadan Refinery and National Iranian Gas Company.
On the training front, Jondishapour offers vocational courses at an institute in Abadan.
In our first projects at Bandar Imam Petrochemical Complex, we worked alongside experienced Iranian companies and international supervision giants like Fuki and Bellili from Italy, Krupp Coopers from Germany, Technip from France, Daelim from Korea and a few companies from Canada. We proved successful winning the satisfaction of those who had trusted our ability. This created more self-confidence among the company’s managers.

The Company’s Makeup: The management of Jondishapour Company brings together two chemical engineers, two mechanical engineers, an industrial engineer and a civil engineer. Both experienced experts and engineers and a talented young force make their presence felt at the company, which banks on potentials of the young workforce and experience of seniors.
This has enabled us to better handle various projects such as laying pipelines, building storage tanks, jetties, and jackets as well as their installation, commissioning, maintenance and civil operations.

Pending Jobs: Jondishapour Co. is presently studying avenues of cooperation with Oil Products Export Terminals Co. and Abadan Refinery. Hopefully, the outcome of our efforts will soon appear in expansive projects of these two organizations. Some gas projects are also being pursued. Moreover, our company will soon launch a petrochemical project.
