Iran Joins the Aircraft Industry

Hussein Amirhusseini, Vice President of HESA

Even the visionaries viewed it as an impossible dream until a few years ago. No one thought it would come true so soon, if not ever. Iran made history earlier this year when news broke that Iran 140 (Faraaz) has pulled it off in the sky during a maiden flight. Here is a look at the company that was behind the great achievement.

HESA is an ever-expanding aircraft manufacturing plant, which is located in a very important geopolitical location. It seeks to clinch joint ventures and co-production.

28 kilometers northwest of the central Iranian city of Isfahan is one of the largest aircraft manufacturing plants in the region. The plant features millions of square meters of land expandable in all four directions, sophisticated shops and hangars equipped with the state-of-the-art tooling, equipment, and machinery, highly qualified and well-experienced engineering and technician teams, trained in accordance with latest aviation industry standards, aircraft part manufacturing workshops, laboratories, flight test facilities and production shops. Six different products are manufactured at the plant.

1. Fixed wing commuter turbo prop passenger aircraft

2. Attack helicopter

3. Target and reconnaissance unmanned aerial vehicles (U.A.Vs)

4. Hovercraft

5. Ultra light aircraft

The plant also includes a research and development center. The plant known as HESA is totally customized and market-oriented. It follows a strategic objective, that is, to easily adapt to rules and regulations of the World Trade Organization when Iran joins the world body.
As a customer-oriented facility HESA has a most modern product support system known as H.A.S.T (HESA Automated Supply Transaction). The plant has a modern class B type private airport with all facilities and equipment, which is used as an alternative to Isfahan international Airport. This gives HESA a strategic opportunity to become an air trade gateway. The airport has its own customs clearance, passport control, an accommodation facility, a hotel, restaurants, and shopping centers. This gives HESA the opportunity to render services to its customers from the very moment they think about the product and make contact with HESA. After that the product is being utilized by customers all along.
HESA is actively present in Asian and African countries. It has excellent commercial ties with Eastern and Western companies. It is about to make its presence felt in Europe, and South America as well. It takes part in as many internal and international fairs as it can. HESA now has the opportunity to familiarize its customers with its state-of-the-art products, which put on show a combination of both Eastern and Western technology and product support.

Negotiations are underway with international giants such as Airbus and Pilatus to secure their license to manufacture here in Iran aircraft parts and or even some of the aircraft they manufacture.

HESA is proud of manufacturing Iran 140 (Faraaz) turbo prop aircraft a highly versatile multi-mission aircraft, with low-cost maintenance, a very low turnaround time, low fuel consumption (less than 600 kg/hour independent from facilities) and a very reliable maintenance system totally based on condition monitoring system with lowest use of hard time system.
HESA renders highly qualified sale and after-sale services. It maintains very good relations with all national and international sale agencies and bears in mind the four Ps of marketing product, price, place, and promotion.
