Father of Economics in Iran Passed away

Dr. Manouchehr Farhang, who is known as father of economics in Iran, passed away. He spared no effort and research for promotion of economics in the Iranian society up to his very death.

He has been described as a courageous and indefatigable master of economics whose intrepidity in defending science and scholars was exemplar.

I was his student in 1967 exactly 14 years before I started publishing Iran International magazine. He was a staunch supporter of globalization of the Iranian economy.

He maintained that in view of several thousand years of cultural and civilizational background as well as having intelligent and hardworking people, Iran should play its international role along with other nations.

As a senior economic advisor of our magazine he never ceased to encourage us to continue the course we had taken.

May God bless his soul and help us tread his path.
