Hosting the World

Time: June 1 - October 31, 2000. Place: Hanover, Germany. Theme: Humankind, Nature, Technology. World Exposition (EXPO) 2000 is the largest human assembly taking place at the dawn of a new millennium to present interpretations of nations on the EXPO themes. The motto of EXPO 2000 serves as a message to the nations of the world and an appeal to the human race to overcome national and political barriers and recognize a common, global responsibility to the environment. It is an appeal to make this global challenge the focus of human thoughts and activities.
EXPO 2000 will be a living, first-hand experience formed by a host of meetings and meanings. Each EXPO so far held has had a lasting impression on its age. Especially, expositions staged at the beginning of each century have had an important role in determining the ways in which man should come into terms with the future. EXPO 1900 in Paris, for example, dealt with the issue of petroleum and energy resources in the 20th century.
Spectacularly staged presentations on 100,000 square meters will offer not only a view to the world of the 21st century, but also a message of closeness, peace and friendship. EXPO 2000 seems to be a recognition of the fact that caring more for each other, preserving our living environment and struggling for further technological achievements are responsibilities of each and everyone of us to serve the mankind.
EXPO 2000 is intended to take us to an adventurous journey to depict questions about our future. The visitor is challenged to contemplate on experiences of the past and surprises of the future, simplicity of life in small communities of yesterday and complexity of life in mega-cities of tomorrow, examples of achieving the impossible and solutions of accomplishing hereafter.

In the largest human assembly at the dawn of the new millennium, over 190 countries -including Iran- are waiting to strike you once you step foot into their world.

What does the 21st century have in store for us? What benefits can be offered by the globalized world economy? What initiatives do you suggest for future coexistence between people in harmony with nature? EXPO 2000 will be a place where significance of environment, food, health, communications, energy and mobility will be reaching the highest point. In these fields, ideas to be presented are clearly directed towards the aim of Sustainable Development.
EXPO 2000 is already debating global issues and problems in open and lively discussion at international level between science, business, culture, politics and a wide general public. But it is not going to lose sight of other subjects. A balanced mixture of entertainment and information is aimed for. Visitors will have numerous opportunities for merging with the exhibition, playfully interacting with it.
There is nothing comparable to EXPO 2000 in scale and global thematic aspirations. It embodies one clear-cut aim: to encourage people to accept new ways and to convey confidence in the future. Here is an event which will focus on our new global awareness, a chance to review the social, ecological and economic prospects and opportunities, as well as the scientific and technical resources of our age. Above all, it will consider the ways in which people will interrelate and communicate in the world of tomorrow.
Each of us lives in a different world, but we all live on Earth. EXPO 2000 is the opportunity of over 190 nations - including Iranians - and 15 international organizations to strike you once you step foot into their world.
