No matter who gets the Parliament seats, the victory belongs to the nation. This was a statement repeatedly made by Iranian statesmen all throughout the country’s sixth parliamentary elections, dubbed by the leader Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei as “a great test to bring honor to the Islamic Republic”.
Polling stations had to stay open for extra hours in response to the massive turn out of voters. Impressive appearance of religious minorities, youths and women were all indications of a healthy contest; an overwhelming support for the renovation of 290 seats in the Iranian Parliament.
