40,000 New Work Force for South Pars |
In 2010 about $11bn was invested in the zone which
would increase to $16bn in the current year.

Managing
Director of South Pars Special Economic Energy Zone, Pirouz Mousavi, speaking
on the sidelines of the 16th International Oil Industry Exhibition said the
Organization as the representative of the National Iranian Oil Company (NIOC)
enjoys special stance in terms of sovereignty and security and is operating
like a regional government while it shoulders the responsibility of a unified
management, policy making, planning and targeting for the zone.
Referring
to the inspection tour of the ambassadors from member countries of the
Economic Cooperation Organization (ECO) to projects in South Pars, he said
during their visit ECO representatives proposed opening of an ECO Office in
the zone and it was decided that ECO member states study the proposal and
report the result.
He said
according to the approvals, the Organization is obliged to recruit 50% of its
needed manpower from among local forces, adding that currently there are 53
thousand manpower employed in different projects of which 36% are native. He
said based on the planning, with the expansion of the remaining phases greater
strides would be taken towards enforcement of such approvals.
He
pointed to the development of eight phases of South Pars gas field within 35
months and said phases 12, 13, 19, 20, 21, 22, 23 and 24 are currently
operational and are working according to pre-planned programs. Meanwhile, two
phases are operating ahead of planning and fortunately all developing projects
are making parallel progress.
Mousavi pointed out that in 1389 (March 2010 – March 2011) about $11bn was
invested in the zone which would increase to $16bn in the current year.
Furthermore, some $39bn had been invested in the zone in the past years, he
added. |
